Goodnight. Sleep Tight. Sing Along.

Last night Scott and I were both tossing and turning (not uncommon for me since cancer came with insomnia after all the treatment) but not normal for Scott and we weren’t nervous/anxious. He suggested listening to a short sermon and I was reminded of this song/video Id heard before but it has taken on new depths and richness in recent weeks (another gift of cancer is eyes and heart and ears that see and feel and hear anew!). We listened to this on repeat until we fell asleep. And found ourselves talking about it through tears today as we waited for the doctor. Sweet sweet reminders of truth and love for us from the story of Job and gifted songwriters (Shane and Shane) and another faithful pastor (John Piper). I pray it blesses your heart as it blessed ours last night. And it will bless mine again as soon as I finish sharing with YALL and hit play again. Here’s the link:

Goodnight. And Sleep tight with these great truths of His love sung over you too!

  1. My Scott sent this out earlier this week referencing and praying for YOU and several of our other friends battling right now. LOVE this and LOVE YOU! Hope you all sleep better tonight…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  2. Merry Christmas, Jen. We continue to cover you in daily prayer. Thank you for the blessing you are to all who love you. Sleep well. May visions of sugarplums dance in your head. Tomorrow we celebrate the ultimate healer. Praise God!

  3. Oh lulu… This is absolutely beautiful. And fills my eyes with tears. I wish you weren’t the one chosen to be slain. But knowing that none of this is meaningless gives me reason to sing that he is good and he knows what he’s doing and he is good. Love you. Thanks for blessing my Christmas Eve first thing.

  4. God is using you to touch so many people, Jen! So blessed by your post and I love this song, but I have no idea how you fell asleep to John Piper preaching…haha! Praying for you and your sweet family!!!

  5. Amen to what Amy said on blessing others. I listened to it over and over again last night and had sweet moment with Paige as we listened together and discussed the message. Love you, Scott, and Lincoln so much!

  6. Jennifer, I thought of you as I was meditating on II Peter 1. As he reminds those who “have received a faith of the same kind as ours” that the Lord has given us everything pertaining to life and godliness, and therefore they are to apply all diligence in adding moral excellence, knowledge,… to their faith, he tells them, beginning in verse 12 that he will always be ready to remind them of these things, as “long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder.” That is what you are doing for all of us. Your very hard journey has given you a platform to remind us! Thank you for doing that! You are a blessing. Praying for you and yours.

  7. That’s beautiful, Jen. Thank you for sharing. God be with you in those minutes – with you and Scott. It is not meaningless…. weight of glory….

  8. Jennifer, this is your neighbor from across the alley in Garland, Sarah (Taylor) Walker. My mom has been keeping up with you through Mrs. Peterson. Want you to know that friends from WAY back love you and are praying for you!

... Those are my thoughts. Now, I'd love to read yours...
