How to Help?

Lots of y’all have sweetly asked how to help and made so many KIND and generous offers so thought I’d answer that question here.  From week to week, we don’t necessarily know what our needs are but we definitely have them:)  Friends have offered to help with childcare, house stuff and meals.  If you want to help out with meals or errands or have some other good idea about how to help us, please reach out to Jenn Dawkins (jenndawkins@att.net) or Angie Friddle (angiefriddle@yahoo.com).

Thanks for asking, caring, and wanting to help.  We are blessed by you.

  1. I’ve talked to Sharon and of course I learned, when she had Linc, of your trip to M.D.Anderson. I think of you and pray for you every day. Your strength and spirit and faith are so amazing! I know so many are organizing and helping you with so much, but I want you to know if you need anything or any help with anything, you can call me at any hour. I know many are helping but I want you to know that. Any time, any hour. I love you.

  2. Jennifer, you don’t know me but I feel like I know you! I run with Julie Kronnick (most mornings at 5:00 a.m.!). I love your blog! Perhaps we can meet in person one of these days! Leslie Baker

  3. Jennifer, You are so incredible, so special. Your strength and spirit and most of all your faith are so strong and will pull you thru this once more. You are in my every prayer. I love you.

  4. Jen, as I listened to Todd’s message this morning and watched yours and Scott’s video tears flowed down my face. Lost in my own world, I was not aware of the latest developments in your journey until today. I loved Todd’s message to you and to the world.
God is Good. He doesn’t make mistakes. He can be trusted.
David and I have learned and re-learned these truths over the past 8 years of his battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. In our wildest dreams we never could have imagined David’s journey involving a multi-organ transplant. Yet, today he is 1 year and 4 months post-surgery with no evidence of cancer in his body! Praise Him!!
God is Good. He doesn’t make mistakes. He can be trusted.
Your faith and your intimate relationship with Christ is such an inspiration to me. I know it blesses those you interact with in the medical community, your friends and your family.
I am adding your name to my 3:00 PM alarm that reminds me to lift names to the Lord of those that are in need of his miracle touch. He is faithful and miracles DO happen!
Love to you and your family!
    KAREN

  5. Not a day goes by without us bringing you to our Father. Thought of you today when thinking of 2Chron 16:9 “the eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him”. His eyes have landed on you! Love you all

  6. My bible study just finished Max Lucado’s “Before Amen” and my bible study leader challenged us to pray for a week for someone outside our normal sphere. That was the day I heard you speak in Bobby’s class about your “Issue.” I wanted to let you know that you are the person I chose to pray for that week – I prayed that this clinical trial would not only provide healing but miraculous healing. I prayed for peace for you and your family and an abundance of support from family and friends. I will continue to pray for you and your family. Love from a fellow Lation Fusion fan!

  7. Jennifer, you don’t know me, but I grew up in Grand Prairie and went to school with your brothers. I graduated from GPHS in 1988 and was Jenny Shockley at the time. I went to Eisenhower, Adams and then GPHS. I’ve driven by your old house on CArrier more times than I can count. I am not sure how I even stumbled on your blog, but I did and followed very closely with your breast cancer. I’ve checked back from time to time and found all of these updates. I have got to let you know, you inspire me like I’ve never been inspired before. You write beautifully and your heart for the Lord is absolutely one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever experienced. I am in awe of you. I have prayed and will continue to pray for you. My heart hurts for your sweet husband and your precious son. I just wanted to reach out to you and let you know you are a beautiful soul and you have really touched my heart. Blessings to you today and every day.

  8. Jenn, this made me think of you this morning…Brady

    Morning

The trial of your faith.1 Peter 1:7
Faith untried may be true faith, but it is sure to be little faith, and it is likely to remain dwarfish so long as it is without trials. Faith never prospers so well as when all things are against her: tempests are her trainers, and lightnings are her illuminators. When a calm reigns on the sea, spread the sails as you will, the ship moves not to its harbour; for on a slumbering ocean the keel sleeps too. Let the winds rush howling forth, and let the waters lift up themselves, then, though the vessel may rock, and her deck may be washed with waves, and her mast may creak under the pressure of the full and swelling sail, it is then that she makes headway towards her desired haven. No flowers wear so lovely a blue as those which grow at the foot of the frozen glacier; no stars gleam so brightly as those which glisten in the polar sky; no water tastes so sweet as that which springs amid the desert sand; and no faith is so precious as that which lives and triumphs in adversity. Tried faith brings experience. You could not have believed your own weakness had you not been compelled to pass through the rivers; and you would never have known God’s strength had you not been supported amid the water-floods. Faith increases in solidity, assurance, and intensity, the more it is exercised with tribulation. Faith is precious, and its trial is precious too.

Let not this, however, discourage those who are young in faith. You will have trials enough without seeking them: the full portion will be measured out to you in due season. Meanwhile, if you cannot yet claim the result of long experience, thank God for what grace you have; praise him for that degree of holy confidence whereunto you have attained: walk according to that rule, and you shall yet have more and more of the blessing of God, till your faith shall remove mountains and conquer impossibilities.

His eyes have landed on YOU.
